The Bay School (TBS) in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a full-time Behavior Analyst to join the clinical team in a state-of-the-art school program for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities. The Bay School is part of the May Institute, a non-profit, non-public school. We are a national organization of award-winning programs for individuals with ASD, brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other behavioral healthcare needs. We service students ages 5 to 22 with moderate-to-severe needs in the areas of language, communication, and behavior.

We take pride in our implementation of the latest research findings to produce measurable and lasting improvements in the lives of children with ASD and related developmental disabilities. The Behavior Analyst in this position will be joining a team of at least two other behavior analysts on a clinical team consisting of special education teachers, related service providers (i.e., SLPs and OTs), and coordinator of vocational services.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts behavioral assessments (e.g., FBAs) as needed to identify the function of challenging behaviors. Oversees and assists with the assessment of additional skill areas (e.g., ABLLS, VB-MAPP, AFLS) and the preparation of student assessment reports.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs). Collaborates with Special Education Teacher(s) to ensure that all staff members have the training and resources necessary to implement all components of a student's BIP. Collects and reviews treatment fidelity data to ensure consistent application of interventions. Identifies ongoing staff training needs.
  • Conducts regular reviews of student behavioral data, identifies trends, and makes recommendations when changes are needed.
  • Directly supervises Special Education Teacher(s).
  • Directly collaborates with at least two other behavior analysts on the TBS clinical team.
  • Attends IEP meetings; prepares all behavioral paperwork for meetings; and reports on behavioral goals, relevant assessment data, and current BIP.
  • Assists in overseeing the timely completion and verification of staff incident reports using the incident reports portal. Conducts monthly audits of staff and student incident reports and identifies when changes are needed (e.g., environment, safety equipment, BIP, physical management, additional training).
  • Participates in weekly clinical team meetings.
  • Participates in high-risk review meetings. Ensures the most recent data and clinical information is prepared for presentation at the meetings.
  • Assists Special Education Teachers with the development and of skill acquisition and behavioral programs, reviews student progress on an ongoing basis, and makes recommendations when changes are needed.
  • Participates in the identification and screening of potential students to be served by the program.
  • Conducts and assists with research projects in collaboration with the Director of Education and Clinical Services. Participates in preparing materials for presentation at conferences.
  • Attends work-related conferences and workshops to acquire and maintain competencies, as appropriate.
  • Directly provides supports to classrooms on an as-needed basis (e.g., provide 1:1 support to students during staff lunches).

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in special education, Psychology, or related field
  • BCBA certification preferred, will consider candidates about to sit for exam
  • 2 years of experience working with individuals with special needs

Pay range for this role is 85k-95k
